The 62nd Annual Gable Reunion was held at the Schlicher Farm on August 4, 1985. The day was warm and sunny with a cool breeze. Approximately 88 friends and relatives enjoyed the food and fun of the Reunion. This year Clyde Schlegel had all sign an attendance record and put on name tags.
President Ethel Schlegel opend our meeting with a welcome to the more than usual crowd of people. Ethel gave William and Florence Shlciher a beautiful "Robin" bird statue as a thank you for all the years they've opened their home to us. All attending signed a thank you card to accompany this gift. A discussion on the spelling of Gable concluded that the original version "Gabel" was of German descent.
Florence Schlicher says the first Reunion here on the farm was in 1947. William and Florence hand painted mugs in remembrance of the Reunion, one for each family.
Donald Schlicher made us aware of the poor turn out of people to help assembe the tent, tables and benches. Seems the same people help each year. Flo Gable volunteered to head a committee to get people to repair and prepare the tent and tables.
It was announced that copies are available of the Family Tree and a picture of the original 7 Gables.
Officers move up this year. Ethel Schlegel gave us two years of her fine organizing abilities. Florence Young was elected Games Committee chairman.

The meeting closed to a new selection of "Mighty God Bless and Keep you Forever." A day of joyous memories was had by all.
